Senior Tax Manager – Partner Opportunity
About Tomahawk Creek Group (formerly Douglas L.
Freeman, CPA, LLC)
Tomahawk Creek Group exists to foster growth and build
legacies through trusted financial guidance, providing clarity, confidence, and
strategic insight that help our clients navigate complexity, seize
opportunities, and achieve their personal and business goals. We provide
sophisticated accounting & advisory services, tax planning, financial
leadership, consulting services, and estate planning tailored for businesses,
high-net-worth individuals, and families. Additionally, we offer expertise to
professional service firms by helping alternative investment managers,
investment bankers & M&A advisors, wealth advisors, attorneys, and
their clients navigate growth, transactions, tax complexity, and financial
decision-making with confidence.
We have over 150 years of accounting and business leadership
experience. In fact, we have retained its two successive owners, because their
commitment to and relationships with clients remain our touchstone. As business
owners and operators, we understand urgency and remain a responsive partner to
our clients.
Our firm encompasses non-career public accountants whose
experience and practical solutions to our clients’ tax and business needs
support them to be the best in their fields. We prefer a person whose
experience mirrors ours: working in accounting departments of large and small
businesses and in corporate finance, FP&A positions and CFO roles. With
this experience, we are uniquely positioned in the industry to understand
businesses from the inside while providing marketplace-driven services and perspectives.
The Role:
We are looking for an experienced CPA to join a professional
advisory firm working with closely held businesses and high net worth
individuals. The ideal candidate will
have 10 or more years of high-level corporate/partnership tax preparation
experience across a range of industries. You’ll manage the client relationship,
including business returns, the owners’ individual returns, quarterly
projections and estimates, and year-round tax planning.
This role is ideal for a technically strong, client-focused
professional who is ready to operate with a high degree of autonomy, lead
difficult conversations, and help build a strong team. He/she will value learning about our system,
getting to know our clients and understanding the culture our employees and
clients love.
What you’ll do:
Tax Compliance & Planning
Serve as the primary advisor on complex federal and
multi-state tax engagements for closely held pass-through entities and their
owners. Ensure the team delivers accurate, timely returns, projections, and
estimates.
Client Relationships
This is not a behind-the-scenes role — you will be the
trusted advisor in the room with firm leadership and clients. Build long-term
client loyalty through proactive communication, sound judgment, technical
depth, and responsive service.
Firm Development
Contribute to the continued growth of our tax practice by
identifying planning opportunities, supporting business development, and
collaborating across tax, and other service lines.
Career Path
This is
more than a Senior Tax Manager position. For the right individual who
demonstrates technical excellence, leadership, sound judgment, and a commitment
to serving clients, there is a genuine opportunity to become a partner in the
firm. We are looking for someone who wants to help build the future of our
practice—not simply fill a position.
If
you’ve reached a point in your career where you’re looking for meaningful work,
great clients, and the opportunity to build equity in a growing firm, we’d like
to talk.
